New York Mills Public School is planning for our district’s future, and we invite our community to be part of the journey.
Our school has been a source of pride in our community for generations. We’re proud of our students, staff, and community members who call our district home. From small class sizes and strong academic achievement to outstanding extracurricular and co-curricular opportunities, New York Mills School provides students with countless ways to learn, grow, and succeed.
New York Mills has a long tradition of excellence in academics, activities, and athletics. Our students excel in programs such as Business Professionals of America (BPA), Future Farmers of America (FFA), Knowledge Bowl, speech, music, and Career & Technical Education. Students also participate in a wide variety of extracurricular opportunities, including football, volleyball, cross-country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls wrestling, baseball, softball, track and field, trap shooting, fishing league, marching band, LEGO League, mock trial, and more. Over the years, New York Mills students and teams have earned state championships, individual state titles, national qualifications, and numerous state tournament appearances across academics, activities, and athletics.
These programs are supported by strong community partnerships and dedicated organizations like the Booster Club, Parents’ Nest, and various local businesses. We’re proud of the opportunities available to every student. Together, we are New York Mills.
Addressing Today's Needs, Preparing for Tomorrow
As our district continues to evolve, so do the needs of our students, staff, and community. While we have worked hard to maintain and adapt our facilities over the years, many areas of our school were designed for educational programs, instructional methods, and community expectations that have changed significantly over time.
Over the past year, New York Mills Public School has engaged students, staff, families, community members, and facility planning experts in a comprehensive planning process to evaluate our facilities, identify priorities, and develop potential solutions. Through facility assessments, educational adequacy studies, community engagement, and long-range planning, several key goals emerged:
As a result of this community-driven process, the School Board approved placing three referendum questions on the November 3 ballot. Each question focuses on a different set of identified needs, allowing voters to consider each investment separately.
On Tuesday, November 3, you will vote on three ballot questions. The first focuses on addressing our most pressing educational, operations, safety, accessibility, and maintenance needs. The second focuses on remodeling our high school media center to support students and staff, and improvements to our auditorium and bus garage. And the third question focuses on creating safer, more functional outdoor athletic facilities. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, and early/absentee voting starts on Friday, September 18.
